New Center for Benefit-Cost Studies of Education Touts the Economic Payoff of FTF's Approach to Educational Justice

A new cost-benefit study conducted by Henry Levin of Teachers College, Columbia University, and three colleagues examined the cost effectiveness of diverse approaches (pre-K through high school) to improving graduation rates. The findings of this study were recently featured in a distinguished lecture at the American Educational Research Association's (AERA) 2008 Annual Meeting.

Video of the lecture, titled "The Economic Payoff to Educational Justice," is available through the AERA website here. To view the sections of the lecture that focus on First Things First, follow the link above and click on the "Effective Interventions" and "Cost-benefit ratios" sections of his lecture in the gray menu on the left side of your screen.

This study is also part of a recently published book from the Brookings Institution Press, titled The Price We Pay: Economic and Social Consequences of Inadequate Education. Further details about the book are available here.
