IRRE Announces New Partnership with Detroit-area Schools
IRRE is excited to announce new partnerships with four Detroit-area school districts. This exciting new work is supported by a generous charitable contribution from the GM Foundation (http://www.gm.com/corporate/responsibility/community/) to the United Way of Southeastern Michigan (http://www.uwsem.org/). These funds will support efforts in five high schools to use smaller organizational structures to foster mutual respect and accountability between students and teachers and strengthen the foundation for raising academic expectations and performance. A family and student advocacy system will be implemented in each school to provide students the personalized social and academic supports they need to engage in their learning more deeply and stay on track to graduate college-ready. IRRE will provide professional development, leadership training and coaching, and technical assistance to enrich curriculum, build student literacy and numeracy skills across content areas, improve classroom pedagogy around shared instructional goals, implement a state-of-the-art data warehouse and reporting system, and use data more effectively to monitor student progress and raise the quality of teaching and learning.
