WARREN MASON
Warren supports IRRE’s implementation of First Things First in the Los Angeles Unified School District. He builds on his long experience in IRRE’s first partner district, Kansas City, Kansas (KCK) Public Schools. Between 1971 and 1986, Warren rose from classroom teacher to principal of various KCK middle and high schools and served on evaluation teams and educational enhancement committees. As a member of the KCK superintendent’s staff, he implemented a court-ordered desegregation decision.
In 1986, Warren decided to continue his career in Los Angeles schools, where he again began as a classroom teacher, before becoming a principal, cluster administrator and director of secondary school services.
A frequent lecturer at Cal State–Northridge and National University, in San Diego, Warren holds a bachelor’s degree from Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Kansas and both a master’s in education and a doctorate in educational administration from the University of Kansas.
